Present and explain treatment estimates to patients after the doctor completes the diagnosis, ensuring the patient understands all projected costs clearly.
Review financial arrangements with patients, outlining payment options, insurance coverage, out-of-pocket responsibilities, and office financial policies.
Submit insurance claims accurately and promptly for all completed dental procedures.
Process and enter EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) into the patient’s ledger when insurance payments are received, ensuring correct allocation.
Follow up on pending, denied, or unpaid insurance claims, contacting insurance companies as needed to resolve issues and secure payment.
Prepare and submit predeterminations (pre-authorizations) to insurance companies for proposed dental treatments.
Communicate clearly with patients regarding their insurance benefits, coverage limitations, waiting periods, missing tooth clauses, and remaining yearly benefits.
Schedule patients for treatment once they have accepted their treatment plan and financial responsibilities, coordinating with the dentist’s availability.
Maintain accurate financial records, including patient balances, outstanding claims, and accounts receivable reports.
Provide timely follow-up with patients regarding financial matters, such as unpaid balances, insurance inquiries, necessary documentation, and updates on claim status.
